Hypnotherapy is about accessing the "subconscious" mind.

Our "subconscious" is part of our mind that exists below our "conscious" awareness. It is this part of our mind that operate and influence our thoughts, feelings & behaviours.

During hypnosis when your eyes are closed and your mind and body relaxed, it allows for improved focus. This improved focus also increases our own ability to receive information which are called "suggestions," in hypnotherapy.

"Suggestions" are statements spoken to the receiver which carry messages to the subconscious mind, that are felt on a deeper level, both physiologically and emotionally. These "suggestions" are messages through words of support, direction and action to respond/react and change the way we physically and emotionally respond (behaviour)  to a situation we consciously want to change. Accessing the subconscious and hearing these words of "suggestions" will influence one's behaviour (response/reaction) in their conscious mind. This enables the"change" process of unhelpful behaviours.
